Since I have found my music for my opening, I decided to start searching for my openings font. I hoped that this process/search would be shorter than the music one LOL. Anyways I decided to head to the website: DaFont.com. I am familiar with this website due to my previous knowledge of editing. For my fonts I would always find my favorite fonts on DaFont. I looked through the sectioned themes on the main site and i found a sectioned under the name "Old school".
I looked through this theme and found a font that i loved; Sketch Zone. It was a sketch type font and i knew thats the type of font i wanted for my project.
I did just want to go with that one but I wanted to look at more sketch type fonts and see if I found a better, more fitting one.
I looked through the given sketch type fonts and found four fonts that really stuck with me. I downloaded them onto my phone and transferred them to my Video-Star app. Then I got to testing them. I decided to go with the font: D Sketch-
To make sure i really liked this font i added it to my title scene and absolutely loved it!
Here is the final title scene to my film opening!!!
After many days of searching and listening to royalty free songs i have finally found two tracks to incorporate into my opening. I tested them immediately after i heard them and i knew i wanted those tracks to be in my opening. For my editing i have been using IMovie and Video-star, interchangeably.
I found both of my tracks on the website EpidemicSound.com . I searched up my genre: indie/coming of age, and the website gave me pre-made playlists under that genre. I looked and listened through all the tracks to find the ones i needed.
One playlist under the name: Indie Rock, had the two tracks for my opening!
Since the last blog, I am still searching for the songs to put in the opening i have almost finished editing the entire 2 minutes, i have yet to really watch it over but i will do it once i'm finally done to see if i want to move things and change things. But for now i am still editing a silent opening and looking for the perfect music.
Since i am still moving through this editing process i decided to tell you guys my ideas for my two CCR videos.
Idea 1: 73 Questions with Vouge
I wanted to do an engaging but simple concept for my CCR question videos. I chose this 73 questions with Vouge because i can do things meanwhile I'm answering the questions. The camera will be following me around my house while i do daily activities and answer the questions while doing the random ordinary tasks. I will be editing in between so the whole video won't just be me on camera.
Here are some examples of this idea-
Idea 2: Actually Me by GQ
This idea revolves around the person creating an account online and answering their fans questions about their career. I would do the same, create a profile and ask one of my friends to post the questions i need to answer. I would type them on my computer while answering the questions outloud. Editing will also be included.
Here are some examples of this idea-
Idea 3: Beauty Secrets by Vouge
This is more of backup idea if one of the other two don't work out. It is easy and simple and very up to date to the trends right now. It will be easy to answer the questions in a clear manner and editing will also be a big part of it. It will be super easy to film and wont be stressful to film. I really like this idea so if one of my other ideas don't work i wont be too mad...
I have finally started editing my film opening now that i have all the scenes i needed to film. I decided on using a program that i am super familiar with so i don't have to take too much time on learning. I am using IMovie to edit my opening. I have edited about a full minute so far.
I already have most of my editing planned out but one thing I am struggling with is picking out the music for this opening. I have looked through numerous websites that my teacher has recommended and some that i have found on my own but wow it is not an easy task. It is difficult finding the perfect fitting song/songs for my opening.
First i looked at the Universal Music For Creators website. They have a great selection of songs and have them all organized by genre and specific playlists. I looked at through the retro playlist and found some options that MIGHT work but i did not find any that i was definitely set on. I looked through other playlist and artist that could be options but i have yet to find a good match.
Since one of my biggest inspirations is the movie director Sofia Coppola, i decided to look up a playlist that has royalty free music inspired by her amazing choice of soundtracks. I simply just looked up "Sofia Coppola royalty free music" and the website Slip Stream appeared. I did find options and did put them over my opening but none of them had that IT factor that i am looking for.
Anyways while i am in the process of editing my project and figuring out my final product and vision with the scenes that i have, and finding the perfect song that fits my scenes i am going to continue editing it and moving forward.
Since we got to filming all weekend, we needed to figure out my characters costumes. We fully raided the closet and put together the outfits/costumes for the film. My two best friends/actresses helped me out and helped me bring the characters styles to life. The total of these costumes were $0. We only used clothes that we had owned before to fit the characters. heres a few behind the scenes photos of us picking the outfits out.
Since i will begin filming my opening tomorrow, I had to pick out the official locations to film at. I wrote my final script with all these locations in mind. For example, Since the beginning will be set in a school parking lot i will be filming it in a parking lot right next to my high school. For the pool/house scenes i will be filing them at my friend/actress Emi, who plays the character of Abigail, house.
Backyard/pool scene location-
Kitchen/baking scenes location-
Abigails Room location-
I am so glad how perfectly Abigails room fits with the year this opening is set in, the 90's. My friend has the perfect room/style for this time and character. The Kitchen is spacious and it has so much space for them to be able to roam around. The pool also has so much space to film.
For some of the montage scenes i've picked out some locations-
-Beach.
-Gas station or 7/11.
-Field or park.
-Kitchen.
-Abigails room.
-Baking scenes in Abigails kitchen.
After the montages the conversation between Maia and her mom i was thinking of just doing them in my own house or in a different kitchen to set the tone of it being set in Maia's house not Abigails. Anyways I am so excited to finally am able to see my script come to life tomorrow! EEEKKKKKK!!!!!
Since i created the storyboard and script and i am going to start filming this weekend i realized i need to get my official script. I did some research and found an app that helped me format the script in a correct form, since i haven't had any previous experience with script writing. I used this website called Celtx, it gifted me a first time user a free project to work on. I used this free one to create my script.
The website was super easy to navigate and super helpful to a first time user/writer.
Once i finished writing the script which is jsurt a cleaned up copy of my script rough draft, i printed out three copies; One for me, one for Geo, who is playing Maia and one for Emi who will be playing Abigail.
For each script i customized it. For the actresses I highlighted their lines and underlined their actions. For mine i added my angles and shot details and other notes to help me remember before filming. I added a few basic ones but i feel like I will be adding more throughout the filming process, same thing with the actress scripts.
